The biography of Leonardo da Vinci for kids
I’m going to tell you about an incredibly intelligent person, Leonardo da Vinci, who was born on April 15, 1452, in a small place called Vinci, near Florence in Italy.
At the age of 5, he went to live with his father, who had already been married four times and had had 12 other children.
From a very young age, he liked painting and was a very curious child. He observed in detail until he understood how everything around him worked. For example, he spent hours watching the blacksmith at work.
When he turned 14, they moved to Florence. His father realized that he was very good at drawing. So, one day, he went to see a friend named Andrea del Verrocchio, a very famous painter at that time, and asked him to accept Leonardo as an apprentice.
That’s how he began to learn painting, drawing, sculpture, architecture, etc.
At the age of 20, he was accepted into the group of the best painters in Florence and opened his own workshop for painting and sculpture.
Leonardo began to gain great fame, and he was commissioned for very important works. However, what truly interested him was inventing new things.
At the age of 30, a famous family, the Medici family, invited him to live with the Duke of Milan. There, he was asked to organize parties, create paintings, and even invent machines!
That’s how he arrived at the Sforza Castle in Milan, where he was commissioned to create many works that are still famous today.
His most famous paintings are “Mona Lisa” and “The Last Supper,” which you can still visit at the Louvre Museum in Paris and the Convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie in Milan.
Leonardo died at the age of 67 in France and remains one of the brightest minds the world has ever known.
As you have seen, Leonardo da Vinci was one of the most intelligent people in our history, with works and contributions that continue to shape our world.
